  • ストーリー紹介
  • Hong Siu-lung (Louis Koo) is a 21st century G4 agent from Hong Kong who one day participates in a secret time machine test after breaking up with his lover Chun Ching (Sonija Kwok). The time machine takes him 2000 years back to the Kingdom of Zhao during the Warring States Period of China. Hong soon finds out that his small time signal receiver will not take him back to the future until the day Qin Emperor Ying Zheng, the future unifier of China, takes the throne. In order to go back, he tries his best to rescue the future emperor, who was at that time being held hostage at Zhao with his mother Zhu Ji (Yiu Ying-ying).

Along the way he makes friends with female scholar Chin Qing (who looks exactly like Hong's old lover Chun Ching, and also played by Sonija Kwok), Wu Tingfang (Jessica Hsuan), Princess Chian (Suet Yee), female assasin Shanrou (Tang Lai-ming), Zhao Ya (Suet Lei), and makes enemies with the wicked Zhao Mu (Lee Chi-hung) and his henchman Lian Jin (Kwong Wah).

Unexpectedly, Hong finds out that Ying Zheng is already dead! Panicked, he asks Zhao Ya's son, Zhao Pan (Raymond Lam) to take Ying Zheng's identity. When they arrive at the Kingdom of Qin, they find out that Prime Minister Lü Buwei (Kwok Fung) is in fact the father of the real Ying Zheng, and after Lü kills the Emperor of Qin, he controls the entire government, ignoring the young Ying Zheng (who is secretly Zhao Pan) who inherits the throne. Matters go worse when Lü's right-hand man Lau Ai is in fact Zhao Mu's old henchman Lian Jin, and therefore he knows Ying Zheng's true identity as Zhao Pan and uses this to threaten Hong. Hong, on the other hand, decides not to go back to the future, but instead stay in the past with Chin Qing and Wu Tingfang.

As the days go by, Zhao Pan's original kind and good personality starts to change, and becomes the ruthless Emperor Qin Shihuang we all know in history. He kills his "mother" Zhu Ji and Lau Ai (who secretly have an affair), and Lü Buwei. After that he even seeks to kill Hong Siu-lung, whom he fears will tell others his true identity. Ultimately, he fails, and Hong runs far away with his two wives Chin Qing and Wu Tingfang. However, Emperor Qin orders that all books which mention Hong Siu-lung must be destroyed and all scholars which refuse to stop mentioning him must be killed (explaining why in history the emperor burned the classics and buried Confucian scholars alive). Thus, Hong Siu-lung does not exist in the history books. In the finale episode, we discover that Hong Siu-lung's son is in fact Xiang Yu, who, in the future, will overthrow the Qin Dynasty.
