Meanwhile, Tony, Soon Lee's older brother, works as a waiter. Tony is filial but impetuous. He wants to earn enough so he can take care of their sick mother, but he is only a waiter. What can he do? Set in post 60’s Singapore, in rustic kampongs, and the colorful chaotic streets of Chinatown, FIGHTING SPIDERS is a coming of age, adventure, story of three boys – Soon Lee (Edwin Goh), Charlie (Liang Shijie Jason) and Peter (Frederick Fielding), whose friendship is tested when they go to Malaysia on a quest to find and return with the King Spider, so as to challenge their nemesis, and bully, Ah Huat.
Every episode follows an adventure of the boys in the world of flying kites, fighting fishes, fighting spiders, first love and crushes, teenage lusts, and rebellion. We also follow the story of amateur boxer, 21 year old, Tony Lee (Andie Chen), the elder brother of Soon Lee, when he joins a Chinatown gang so he could support a sick mother. His integrity as a role model to his brother, and filial piety to his mother, is compromised when he’s forced to participate in brutal gang activities. He falls in love with a beautiful cellist, Annie (Ezann Lee) but several twists of circumstance leads Tony to a beautiful prostitute, Susie (Rebecca Lim), who works in the red light Keong Saik Street in Chinatown.
